the fortune of cows

Its a full moon so i've reverted into the pattern of less sleep/early waking...... yesterdays practice was a stripping back. heather and vayu led the class through fundamental foundations, salutes and the first 6 poses... then it was self practice and i really wanted to anchor in the count so went back to beginning and counted myself through in sanskrit......kept repeating poses til i got it.......consequently i didn't get all that far.

i got to a point where i couldn't move until the count came into my head. its weird this counting bizo.... the idea is it becomes the focus, followed by the breath, then the action then the dristi/direction of the gaze.....and that becomes the order of instructions for the teaching.......So the actual pose is way down the list of priorities..... John has patiently explained this many times, and it feels true... but its still way off landing fully in me. Apparently it becomes meditative.... enabling the action to flow from the ida/moon channel...... less a sequence of individual poses and more a creative wave..... it also allows letting go of attachment to the way actions have been carried out in the past and therefore enables reprogramming....

so by the end of my practice i was back to the very beginning, stripped right back and completely knackered and emotional.......the simplest actions seem to have the greatest opportunity to let go ........... so not surprisingly I had diarrohea for the rest of the day (knew you were missing the bodily functions)

then we got into adjustments..... love that feeling of connecting energetically with the student...........i'm not great at rote learning a routine/pattern of adjustments.... it works way more for me if i give myself time to observe the student in the state of the asana and feel the adjustments they need.....

i've been learning the closing mantra... and its the song thats playing in my head all the time... you know walking, showering, in the shop.... t'would be a great closing karakia ...... or opening for that matter

Om
Swasthi-praja bhyah pari pala yantam
Nya-yena margena mahi-mahishaha
Go-bramanebhyaha - shubamastu-niyam
Lokaa-samastha sukhino-bhavanthu
Om

which can be translated as:

Om
May prosperity be glorified
May administrators rule the world with law and justice
May all things that are sacred be protected
And may people of the world be happy and prosperous
Om

mmmm... whats all this focus on prosperity though?....maybe its not material

just wiki'd it and came up with this translation:

May the welfare of citizens be protected
with the path of law and justice by rulers and administrators
May good fortune befall cows and scholars everyday
May all the worlds be happy and comfortable.

hmmm - yep that fits....cows are important

love you all
